Palate - 2018

 From VS Arashi 2018/10/11

During the program, Sakurai Sho asks the members, "It's the season of increased appetite. Has there been a change in your palate or the kind of food you eat?"

Matsumoto answers with, "For example, being able to eat food I used to hate."

Sakurai continues with, "For example, coriander, right." Apparently, Matsumoto who used to hate coriander is now able to eat it.

Sakurai asks, "Is there anything else?"

Matsumoto replies, "I'm getting less bothered by Japanese ginger."

To Matsumoto's broadening range of food, Sakurai comments, "You're graduating." Then Sakurai adds, "But I'm also getting somewhat fine with Japanese ginger."

Matsumoto says, "So, it's like, your taste receptors are dying." Then adds to explain, "It's like as you become an adult, your taste receptors die so you stop hating (those foods)."

Then, to Sakurai who says to him, "So that's why you've died," Matsumoto laughs and says, "I'm dying now."

Ohno Satoshi asks, "So it doesn't necessarily mean that they're delicious to you?"

Matsumoto replies, "Ah, but I think that it's better if there's coriander in it," surprising Sakurai who goes, "Huh? It's really changed that much?"

To that surprised Sakurai, Matsumoto replies, "People change when they're dying," prompting laughter in the studio.

Well, Sho mentions his "stupid" palate on Yakai recently (the one with the whole SnowMan there) so of course this story pops up in my head. So it's 2022 and I'm still trash.
